[Jusis feels emotionally drained after that conversation, and honestly is home early since he's unable to be effective at his job right now. So, seeing the bag of candy and reading the note, the blond feels both grateful for this kindness and guilty. Like he doesn't deserve it. It's hard to keep Elliot's words in mind, to not fall down into the yawning abyss that is his guilt, but he's trying to keep his head above water.
